Dear Educator,
The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany invites you to join us as we participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®. This is the 17th anniversary of Read for the Record®, and we are excited to help set a new world record for the world’s largest shared reading experience.
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, children and adults around the world will help set a new record by reading a wonderful children’s book. This year’s campaign book, Nigel and the Moon is about a young boy who dreams big but is too scared to share his dreams with the world. Instead, every night he tells his dream of becoming an astronaut, dancer, and superhero to the moon. As his class moves through career week, Nigel’s community helps him build up confidence in who he is. This book encourages children to celebrate where they come from, who they are, and who they want to be. Nigel and the Moon is published by HarperCollins.
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Jumpstart provides language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promotes quality early learning for all children. By participating in Jumpstart’s year-long program, children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success.
All we ask is that you read along with your students and let us know how many total people (adults and children) participated in the shared reading. Later in the afternoon on October 27th, please email Alliyah Brooks at abrooks@cmstkids.org and share with her how many adults and children participated in the shared reading so we may report our results to Jumpstart's Read for the Record®.
Thank you so much for your support of Read for the Record® and for the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany. If you would like your group featured on our website and/or social media, please send your photos from your day to the email listed above. If you have any questions, please email Alliyah Brooks at abrooks@cmstkids.org or 985.888.1555. We hope you will join us on October 27th!
Happy Reading!
