The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany invites you to join us as we participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®. This is the 15th anniversary of Read for the Record®, and we are excited to help set a new world record for the world’s largest shared reading experience.
On October 29, 2020, children and adults around the world will help set a new record by reading a wonderful children’s book. This year’s campaign book, Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away, written by Meg Medina, follows best friends Daniela and Evelyn as they play together one last time before Evelyn’s family moves to a new city. The friends find moments of imagination and joy together amidst the final stages of packing and though they are sad when the time comes to say goodbye, they separate knowing they will always be mejores amigas.
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Jumpstart provides language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promotes quality early learning for all children. By participating in Jumpstart’s year-long program, children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success.
All we ask is that you read along with your students and let us know how many people (adults and children) participated in the shared reading. Later in the afternoon on the 30th, please email Gillian Rabalais at email@example.com and share with her how many adults and children participated in the shared reading so we may report our results to the Read for the Record® .
Thank you so much for your support of Read for the Record® and for the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany. If you would like your group featured on our website and/or social media, please send your photos from your day to the email listed above. If you have any questions, please email Gillian Rabalais at firstname.lastname@example.org or 985.888.1555. We hope you will join us on the October 29th!
The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany inspires children to imagine, explore and create in an interactive learning environment.
